Zen Experience

Japan is setting up shop in Paris

At Zen, Japan came to Paris with our founder. From childhood, he was fascinated by the subtlety of flavors, the respect for ingredients, and the art of precise culinary techniques. His years spent traveling between Kyoto, Osaka, and the markets of Tokyo inspired him: “Every ingredient has a story, and every gesture has meaning.”

By creating Zen, he wanted bringing this experience to the heart of ParisA place where Japanese culture isn't just about the food, but is felt in the atmosphere, the rhythm, and the attention to detail. Here, you're not just in a restaurant: you are in a piece of Japan.

Japan on a plate

Philosophy and inspirations

We draw inspiration from wabi-sabi, the Japanese philosophy that celebrates the beauty of the ephemeral and the imperfect. Every plate, every decoration, and every piece of tableware reflects this idea: finding beauty in simplicity and naturalness.

A proverb we particularly love: “Time is not measured in hours but in moments lived.” That's exactly what we want to offer: a space to slow down, breathe, and savor the moment. Even a simple sushi becomes a moment to observe, appreciate, and share.

On the plate

Japanese culture in every bite

Our dishes tell stories. At lunchtime, we offer the traditional Japanese cuisine Sushi, sashimi, simmered dishes, all prepared with seasonal ingredients. An anecdote from the chef: in Japan, it is common to taste an ingredient on its own before cooking it, to understand its true flavor. We do the same at Zen: each product is respected and showcased in its simplicity.

In the evening, Zen transforms into Izakaya...to share small plates and Japanese cocktails. In an Izakaya in Japan, the pleasure lies as much in the conversation and sharing as in the food. We recreate this atmosphere in Paris: laughter, discoveries, and a feeling of human warmth, so typically Japanese.

The Omakase

a unique ritual

For those who want an even deeper experience, we offer theOmakaseFor groups of 8 or more. The chef selects each dish based on the moment, the available ingredients, and his inspiration, creating a unique gastronomic journey. Omakase means “I trust you”: it’s an act of trust, where every bite tells a story.

A little Japanese tip: during an Omakase, it is advisable to eat each bite slowlyIt's about breathing between each flavor, and sometimes looking up to observe how the dish is presented. It's a true ritual, where every detail counts and transforms the meal into a complete sensory experience.

Japan in every detail

At Zen, we love sharing little elements of Japanese culture: the choice of ingredients according to the seasons (shun), the importance of colors on the plate, and even the way to hold chopsticks or enjoy tea. Everything is designed so that you experience Japan, even in Paris.

As another Japanese proverb says: “Even the longest journey begins with a single step.”Every visit to Zen is that first step towards a Japan that we bring to life here, for you.

To live theZen experience

Whether it's for a leisurely lunch, an Izakaya evening, or an exceptional Omakase, we want every visit to be a A journey, a learning experience, and a moment of serenity. Here, Japan is not limited to cuisine: it is experienced in the moment, through the senses, and through sharing.
